Pokemon: Melodic Warriors Episode 10: Diving Into Destiny

Here’s episode 10!

When we last left our heroes, they had finally managed to drive away the feral Arcanine that Ash had flushed out. Although heavily weakened, their opponent fees, leaving our heroes time to prepare should it return to finish them off.

With four melodies remaining, Brock suggests looking for the melody of water–which is closer than our heroes realize…

Episode 10: Diving Into Destiny

Hayley was surprised. “Well, I’ll be! Seems Brock knows when there’s trouble!”

“That could explain why his mic appeared even though he didn’t transform.” Brenna agreed before slashing the Arcanine again.

Brock’s song created an aura of green energy around the Arcanine–preventing Brenna’s wound from healing. He took that opportunity to fire another disc at the snarling Pokemon. The whirling circle of fire connected at the same time Hayley’s whip did, damaging the Arcanine enough to flee.

“It got away…” Brenna sighed as she sheathed her weapon.

Hi van a return, tis mira Kaichou cautioned as she began healing what had been damaged.

“Kaichou says that it’s going to return.” Ash translated as he invited Pikachu aboard his shoulder.

“Which means we oughta find the melody that holds the power of water.” Brock suggested. “That way, we’ll be ready when it does return.”

“Besides water, what other melodies are left, Kaichou?” Ash asked.

Niido uindo, nache, e lita. Kaichou replied.

“She says that besides water, we need to find the melodies of wind, light, and darkness.” Brenna translated. “But my question is, who could possibly be holding them?”

“I have an obvious candidate for who could be holding the one of water.” Ash suggested as he heaved a Poke Ball into the grass, revealing a Swellow.

“Who?” Brenna was piqued.

“Misty…leader of Cerulean Gym.” Ash replied as he climbed aboard Swellow. “After all, she IS a self proclaimed Water Pokemon master…”

“However, she may not even believe you when you explain what has happened so far.” Brenna cautioned as she led the others aboard.

In Cerulean City…

“Here we are, gang…” Ash sighed as he recalled Swellow. The possibility of Misty not believing what he had to say hung heavily over him as he pushed open the doors leading inside the Gym. But what awaited him inside began to lend a little hope to the chance she would believe him.

The large, majestic pool in the main room had been drained, allowing Lilly, Daisy, and Violet to repair the various smashed tiles that lay on the walkways. Some maintenence crew members passed them, carrying new tiles into the various pools or taking the damaged ones outside to the trash pile.

“What happened here?” Brock asked as another crewman walked by with an armload of damaged tile.

“Here’s the deal, hon–we were about to lock up for the night when these evil Seadras came out of nowhere.” Lilly explained as she received a bucketful of new tile from a crewman. “They made whirlpools so big, every last one of the pools got damaged to some degree…and they’ll take weeks to fix at this rate!”

“You know who could’ve brought the Seadras in here?” Hayley asked.

“We know it wasn’t a disgruntled trainer–most of the last few we’ve battled were good sports about losing.” Daisy added. “We’re pretty sure it wasn’t Team Rocket either, unless those Meowth prints Officer Jenny collected yesterday are connected to them…”

“The thing I’m confused about is how a Meowth could’ve found and tamed some Seadras to begin with.” Violet interjected. “It doesn’t add up!”

“What’s going on?” Misty asked as she entered the room, Azurill in tow.

“Some friends arrived and wanted to know why the Gym looks like a warzone.” Lilly explained.

Misty just smiled when she saw Ash. “You think you have some idea of what might have caused this mess?”

“I think I do.” With that, he carefully climbed down into one pool, where Lilly was carefully installing a piece of tile. He waited until he saw her close her eyes to think to place his hand on her back and softly sing Take a melody…. The white glow that surrounded Lilly confirmed his suspicion: she didn’t hold the melody of water.

“Why were you glowing all white for?” Daisy asked Lilly.

“Dunno–heard Hat-boy sing something about taking melodies and I just felt it.” Lilly sighed.

“Isn’t there a story about a mystic necklace or something made when a Mew sang eight melodies, and whoever puts it back together, takes it to Mt. Coronet in Shinou, and sings the song the melodies make gets a wish?” Violet asked.

“You’d be correct.” Ash replied. “That’s the story of the Pokemon Soul Amulet.”

Violet’s eyes sparkled. “Can you check me for any superpowers? I bet it’d be fun to go out and save the world in a pretty costume!”

“Okay…” Ash sheepishly giggled–Violet was clearly treating the gravity of the situation like a game. “But no guarantees that you have a power or not.” With that, he asked Violet “Close your eyes–my power checking ability only works when the subject is sleeping or has their eyes closed.”

“How will you know I have a power?” Violet asked as she closed her eyes.

“When I call the melody I hold, you’ll glow in the color of your power and sing back what melody you have to me–and get a ring to transform with.” Ash replied.

“Oh boy! Just like those pretty soldiers on TV!” Violet was excited now.

“Now then…” With that, Ash laid a hand on Violet’s chest and sang Take a melody… But, another white aura appeared, confirming Violet didn’t hold a melody either. “Sorry, no power here.”

“Aww..” Violet reluctantly resumed placing tiles.

“I guess I want to see if I have a magic power like in the story.” Daisy stammered. “Try it on me, please.”

“Okay…” Ash waited until Daisy had closed her eyes, then laid a hand on her back and sang again Take a melody… Everyone else groaned as a third white aura appeared–even Daisy had no power!

“So you’re telling me the legend of the Pokemon Soul Amulet is real?” Misty asked, amazed by Ash’s abilty.

“Yeah–all these attacks and this Mew giving me, Brenna, Hayley, and Brock powers has to be more than chance.” Ash explained as he let Kaichou out to sit on the walkway.

“Could it be that what you’ve been facing is connected to the rogue Seadras attacking the Gym?” Misty was piqued.

Misuti, ti meas han una fuera. Kaichou began.

“She says that you may have a power too.” Ash translated. “I’ve checked Lilly, Daisy, and Violet already, and they don’t have powers at all.”

“And just how do you know they don’t?” Misty was a little leary of what her friend planned to do.

“According to the story, all of the melodies of Mew’s song are drawn to the melody that holds the power of fire–that is my power.” Ash explained. “This isn’t going to hurt; all I did was lay my hands on your sisters while their eyes were closed and sang the melody of fire: Take a melody…

“And…” Misty was interested now.

“They all glowed white, which means they have no power in them.” Ash concluded. “The only one I have yet to check is you.”

Misty was unsure–the story she had heard for so long, and for so many years, couldn’t possibly be happening, could it? Yet Ash couldn’t have learned his abily to discern superpowers by accident. She felt the urge inside to trust him. Besides, if I trust him, I may get some answers in how the Gym got damaged like this!

She turned to Ash. “Okay…try your power on me.”

Ash waited until Misty had closed her eyes, then once again laid a hand on Misty’s chest and softly sang Take a melody…

Everyone gasped as a deep blue aura surrounded Misty, and she replied back Simple as can be… A sapphire ring also appeared on her left hand as the aura faded.

“All right!” Brock was elated.

Misty just looked at the ring adorning one finger on her left hand. “What’s this for?”

Ash was about to answer when he heard scratching at the doorway. He got up to see what the noise was, and gasped–the Arcanine was back, and frantically trying to break down the door!

To Be Continued…

From the Makers of Katamari, Noby Noby Boy PS3 Exclusive

From NamcoBandai, the makers of Katamari Damacy reveal a completely new game as a Playstation 3 exclusive.

Here below are excerpts from a magazine about the game:

What is Noby Boy?
The central gameplay mechanics to Keita Takahashi’s newest game appear to be similar to Katamary. You manipulate the game in a unique way. In Katamary the manipulation involved snowballing junk through a level. In Noby Noby the central character is an elastic tube that can swallow farmyard animals, leap high in the air, and stretch its ends far out before snapping back together! It can jump 20 times its height.

The game is going to look like the more unique game and Katamary the more conventional one. When it comes to visual styles there really has been no intention to make the artwork similar. As more artwork is revealed people will see that.

Tecmo Reveals ‘Quantum Theory’ PS3 Exclusive

Tecmo’s upcoming third-person shooter, Quantum Theory, is now confirmed as a Playstation 3 exclusive.

The Team Tachyon director, Makoto Shibata, claimed the game was Japan’s answer to titles like Gears of War, which is sticking predominately to Western “basics” however making sure that his country’s “skills and talents” are employed. Notice how the game employes an extended color palette and the traditional post-apocalyptic environment is augmented by the addition of a “living tower” in which the protagonist and its partner heroine must traverse and ultimately defeat.

Shape shifting elements will be employed within the tower so it would change in real time, providing for new cover or unexpected dangers. The game won’t be due out for a release until Fall 2009, so we didn’t see much in terms of actual gameplay, but the title looks promising.
